| IU students will have the option of registering using just a Web browser for fall 2001 classes through an on-line registration system.
Campuses will phase in this new method of registration as it becomes available throughout the spring semester. Walk-in registration at campus registration centers and touchtone telephone registration will also still be available in addition to registration on the Web.
“Granting students access to IU registration via the Web has been a goal of Indiana University over the last several years,” said Norma Holland, associate vice president for University Information Systems. “We wanted to be able to offer a way for students to register over the Web even before the new Student Information System was ready. This is something students have requested, and we are pleased that we can now offer it.”
The service that will allow students to register on the Web is not a new Web-based registration system. Rather, the existing on-line registration system used within the registration centers has been enabled for use with a Web browser. For students who have used the system before, the screens will look familiar and have similar functionality. When phased in on all campuses, the Web service will be available from any location. Details on individual campus registration procedures are provided by the campus’ Registrar’s Schedule of Classes.
The current registration system and related student record functions are scheduled to move to a new Student Information System in 2003-2004.
Full Web registration will be available when the new Student Information System is in place.
