IU East faculty and staff tributes and appointments

Cheryl Stolle, director of the Alternative Routes to Certification Program, was the keynote speaker at the campus Honors Day Convocation March 23. She is the 2001 Helen Lees Award recipient.

Billie Johnson, bursar, along with Shelley Dodson and Jessica Hensley, proposed and implemented a plan to push back the fee payment deadline for students from December to January. Johnson believed that many students were forced to decide on paying tuitions and fees or handling holiday season expenses. Students have overwhelmingly applauded the change.

Benjamin Young, vice chancellor for enrollment services and dean of students, has been chosen a member of the Team Chair Corps of Consultant-Evaluators for the Higher Learning Commission of the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.

Rob Tolley, anthropology, recently presented a paper, “Indigenous Peoples as Fishing Guides: Seeking Economically Enabling Models,” at the American Association of Behavioral and Social Sciences in Las Vegas. He also chaired a session of the Conference on the Economics of Globalization.
