• The Kelley School of Business-Indianapolis turned 30 years of age this month. Since 1974, the school has produced more than 12,000 businessmen and businesswomen. To date, more than 8,000 have stayed in Indiana to work and raise families.

• The first national Earth Day was established by U.S. Sen.
Gaylord Nelson and celebrated on April 22, 1970. The Earth
Day Indiana Festival (see poster below, designed by Herron
student Amber Haltom), “Planet Carefully, Use It Wisely,”
is tomorrow (April 24) in Indianapolis. In 1998, IU’s Lynton
Caldwell was profiled in American Environmental Leaders:
From Colonial Times to the Present for his role in the
development of the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969.
