Strategies for small, medium-sized businesses at IU East
By Hali Cartee

Frantz

IU East in Richmond is continuing to present its Scholar Showcase with a presentation Tuesday, June 28, at noon.

The lecture, featuring David Frantz, associate professor of management at IU East, is scheduled at the Uptown Innovation Center, which is partially sponsoring the lecture series. The center is located at 814 E. Main St. Brown bag lunches can be purchased at the nearby Tom's New York Deli for $5.

The focus of the presentation will be on how small to medium-sized businesses engage in and make strategic plans. Frantz will discuss how the pace of change has altered the planning process and how the nature of formal planning has changed over time.

"Most organizations can't afford to plan strategically, but the business environment today makes it difficult to plan long-term strategic plans," Frantz said. "A strategic focus today is probably more about making strategic choices than it is about making strategic plans." The lecture is free and open to the public.
