· Mary Frances McCourt has been named university treasurer, serving as chief investment officer for the university's portfolio of approximately $1 billion. She will begin her new duties Oct. 1. She comes to IU from Agilysys Inc., of Cleveland, Ohio, where she was director of the treasury. Agilysys is a distributor of enterprise computer technology solutions for medium to large corporations, especially in the hospitality industry. As treasury director, she was responsible for management of cash, reduction of debt and capital management. During her 14 years at the company, she also served as a financial planning director and financial analyst. · Daniel C. Smith has been appointed dean of the IU Kelley School of Business. He had guided the school in an interim capacity since July 2004. Since joining the Kelley School faculty in 1996, Smith has held several key administrative positions. He was chair of its MBA Program from 1998 to 2001; and from 2002 to the summer of 2003, he chaired the Marketing Department. He served as associate dean of academics from 2003 until his appointment as interim dean. "The search committee, led by Dean Astrid Merget, worked extremely hard to identify the best candidates," said Charles Bantz, IU vice president for long range planning and chancellor of IUPUI, when announcing the appointment in July, pending trustee action in August. "The faculty on both the Bloomington and IUPUI campuses engaged the finalists. President (Adam) Herbert, Chancellor (Ken) Gros Louis and I were impressed that the finalists all painted a picture of intense and increasing worldwide competition in the MBA programs as well as other challenges. Given the challenging situation, it was essential that the next Kelley dean have a strong vision as well as the leadership skills to implement that vision." http://newsinfo.iu.edu/news/page/normal/2278.html · Mike Wright has been appointed editor-in-chief of the Indiana Alumni Magazine and J.D.
