I’ll take ‘history’ for $1,290 per minute, Alex
IU graduate Jeremy Harmon (right) and television host Alex Trebek on the set of the game show Jeopardy.
The answer is: Tueday, Oct. 7.

And the question?

What day will IU graduate Jeremy Harmon appear on Jeopardy?

A fan of the long-running television game show since 1983, when his family used to watch together and play along, Harmon graduated from IU in 2002 and currently is in Chicago working for the financial reporting department of General Growth Properties, a mall management company. But as a “wannabe screenwriter” on hiatus from film school to concentrate on his writing and to pay a bill or two, Harmon jumped at the chance to play Jeopardy. After rigorous tests and tryouts, he made the cut, and while he wasn’t a long-time player on the show, he did manage to average $1,290 per minute during his short stint.

Harmon notified a favorite IUB history professor, Jim Madison, of his upcoming debut. “It seemed like something I should tell you because I feel that your classes had quite a bit of impact on me and helped me get to the show and do what I think was pretty well,” Harmon wrote. By the way, Harmon was on the show for 21 minutes. You figure his haul.
