Conversations on Race IV Nov. 17 at IUSB Gandhi chosen keynote speaker

Arun Gandhi, grandson of the late Indian spiritual leader Mohandas K. “Mahatma” Gandhi, has been chosen keynote speaker at IU South Bend’s fourth Conversations on Race No v. 17.

The younger Gandhi is founder of the M.K. Gandhi Institute for Nonviolence, headquartered at Christian Brothers University in Memphis, Tenn.

Gandhi will attend a 4 p.m. reception at the IUSB cafeteria and make a presentation titled “Understanding Race to Overcome Prejudice” at 5:30 p.m. in Northside Hall’s main auditorium, followed by a book signing.

The regional conference, “Back Yards and Front Porches: Making Connections for Better Neighborhoods,” is scheduled Nov. 18 from 8 a.m.-4 p.m. at Wiekamp Hall. There is a $10 registration fee. For information, call 219-237-6547.
