Celebration and preservation
While mastodons have been extinct for 10,000 years or so, there have been many sightings along the green spaces around the IPFW campus in Fort Wayne. The public art initiative called Mastodons on Parade has added thousands of dollars to the United Way of Allen County. Down the way in Hamilton County, the IPFW Archaeological Survey is promoting the importance of Midwestern archaeology through programs centering on a small town called Strawtown, which hasn't been inhabited for more than six centuries

IU President Adam Herbert announced last week that the search process for a Bloomington campus chancellor, which carries with it the additional responsibilities of senior vice president of academic affairs for all IU campuses, will continue. The IU Board of Trustees responded with a resolution passed at its Nov. 4 meeting.
