Five years ago IU designated land not far from the IUB campus as a preserve for research, teaching and environmental education. 80 millionth!

Forty years after starting its services, Campus Bus Service in Bloomington logged its 80 millionth passenger in August. A carpooling option and free bus rides this autumn are giving IUB employees ways to circumvent gas prices, traffic and parking woes.

State of the University

Listen to IU President Adam Herbert’s third annual address Sept. 26--in the audience at IUPUI, remotely at campus sites throughout the state, by web stream or broadcast from WTIU.

Fall enrollments

IU logged an all-time high for the number of credit hours students are taking university-wide. Enrollments are up at IUB and IU Southeast, with heartening data about the IUB Class of 2010.

IU's newests deans

The University of Chicago’s Bennett Bertenthal will join the university as dean of the College of Arts and Sciences in Bloomington Jan. 1. The Kelley School’s James Wimbush is the new dean of the University Graduate School.

Forging international ties

An agreement signed earlier this week will provide a tuition-free exchange of students between IUPUI and Japan’s Hakuoh University. IPFW launched its Saturday School last month to assist Japanese families working in the Fort Wayne area with language and cultural acquisition. Other international initiatives that link Kokomo, South Bend, New Albany and Bloomington to the global community bloomed during summer break.
