Lei Li, a new professor at the IUPUI School of Science, has received an NIH grant to explore DNA damage and repair related to ultraviolet light in endospore-forming bacteria. The goal of the research is the discovery of mechanisms leading to the death of the spores which cause diseases such as anthrax, botulism (food poisoning) and tetanus.  More »

A time-lapse imaging technique developed by an IUPUI biologist will be used to explore the mechanisms of the inner ear in zebrafish embryos. The data will add to the body of knowledge toward understanding the loss of neurons that contribute significantly to hearing loss in the aging human population.  More »
