Michael Evans named interim dean of IU School of Journalism
At the meeting of the Indiana University Board of Trustees that began June 21 and continues today, June 22, Provost and Executive Vice President Lauren Robel recommended the appointment of Michael Evans as interim dean of the School of Journalism. Subject to the board's approval, Evans will begin serving effective July 1.
Evans has been a faculty member at IU since 1995 and associate dean for undergraduate studies at the School of Journalism since 2009. He holds appointments both in journalism and in the College of Arts and Sciences and is a respected scholar and celebrated teacher.
He is the author of three books and numerous articles, and has received several teaching awards, including the Frederic Bachman Lieber Award in 2006 and the Trustees Teaching Award in 2001.
